Can Cannabis Help Gender Diverse People?

Cannabis, for its medicinal properties, has gained decent attention and appreciation already. A completely natural herb that has the potential to help treat and manage several health conditions, cannabis has become a preferred alternative treatment by a lot of people. NY medical marijuana doctors have recommended the plant to patients with symptoms and conditions ranging from pain to low sexual drive but are all these patients cisgender, heterosexuals?

Gender Diversity

A lot of people believe that we don’t need to segregate people with diverse gender and sexual identities from cisgender people but we believe it is important. People with a different gender identity are certainly normal and we are not trying to create a difference here but there is a need to understand that they stand on a very different platform when it comes to experiencing traumas. Their conditions and issues are different from what a cisgender would go through and even if they are similar, their intensity can be different.

We do not intend to eradicate the trauma and conditions of cisgender, heterosexual people but we do intend to slightly shift the focus from “normal” to “abnormally normal” people.

Issues Gender Diverse People Face

People with a different gender and sexual identity can face issues and conditions like lack of confidence, anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia, trouble accepting their reality, bullying, and a lot of pressure from the society which certainly cannot be ignored.

All these issues usually affect mental health but it doesn’t really take a lot for these conditions to start affecting physical health as well. It may be triggering but it is important to mention that cases of self harm and suicide are unfortunately very common and significantly high among people with a different gender identity.

Can Cannabis Help Gender Diverse People?

Yes, cannabis can help gender diverse people. The plant is known to have psychoactive effects that can prove to be beneficial for people who have a mental health condition. Scientific research and anecdotal evidence suggest that the herb has the potential to treat several mental health conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and PTSD. Not just that, marijuana can even benefit physical as well as sexual health, which plays an important role for gender diverse people.

Marijuana is not some magic potion that will completely eliminate the stress or issues you must be experiencing as someone with a different gender identity but it sure can help in managing the symptoms. People from the community have been using the plant to deal with frequent anxiety and panic attacks, and even during their surgical treatments to reduce pain.

Even though the studies are not specifically based on people with a different gender or sexual identity, it still can work efficiently for people of the community.

How Can Cannabis Help With Sexual Experiences?

Cannabis can improve sexual experinece by increase the sex drive among both men and women. But when it comes to people with different gender identities, sex drive may not be the only problem they must be facing hwen it comes to exploring their sexual needs and requirements. Body dysmorphia, identity crisis, lack of confidence, lower self esteem, self doubt, and of course the society play an important role even when it comes to experiencing and exploring stuff in bed. Again, this may be applicable on cisgender people as well but the intensity and possibility of having these issues is higher in case of people of the community.

Marijuana can help with body dysmorphia, stress, lack of confidence and lower self esteem, if consumed in the right sense. Since the plant is known to reduce stress, it can simply help the person get into euphoria and feel better about literally everything. Marijuana even helps people who wish to experiment in bed and if that works well, it can work equally well for people of the community too.

Bottom Line

Cannabis or medical marijuana can help gender diverse people but there is a need to understand that no medication alone will be enough if your condition is severe. While we strongly recommend consulting a medical marijuana doctor before self medicating, we simultaneously suggest getting therapy as well. Psychotherapy works amazingly well for people who have mental health conditions especially like body dysmorphia.
